Alyssa and John celebrated their early September wedding at Crossed Keys Estate in Andover, New Jersey, surrounded by oak trees, lush garden florals, and the golden end-of-summer weather the Garden State is known for. Designed alongside Crossed Keys Designs and Gilded Lily Events and captured by Mary Dougherty Photography, their day blended romantic garden style with timeless black-tie elegance.
Getting Ready at Crossed Keys Estate
The morning began in the Playhouse, where Alyssa and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready together. Alyssa wore a lace Anne Barge gown and lace-edged veil. Her bouquet featured white tulips, ranunculus, freesia, and garden roses with soft blush tones. Bridesmaids wore sage green and carried petite white bouquets. John and his groomsmen spent the morning in the Pequest Parlor and on the putting green. He wore a classic black-tie tuxedo finished with a spray rose boutonniere.
First Look + Garden Portraits
Alyssa shared a first look with her father in the Stone Cottage before meeting John at the reflection pond for private vows. Portraits followed across the estate — balcony, gardens, stone paths, willows, and hydrangeas — before a celebratory champagne tower with their bridal party.
Outdoor Ceremony Under the Oaks
Guests were welcomed with champagne before the garden ceremony. A lush floral arbor overflowing with hydrangeas, roses, and touches of green amaranth framed the ceremony. The aisle was accented with large arrangements of green hydrandea and blush roses.
Cocktail Hour & Farmhouse Reception
Cocktails and conversation spilled out onto the patio with sushi, street tacos, dumplings, and cheesesteaks. Guest mingled in the late-summer sunshine. Inside the Farmhouse, white textured linens, continuous floral runners, desert-rose taper candles, gold flatware, upgraded dinnerware, and cut crystal glassware created a refined, garden party aesthetic. Ceremony florals were repurposed around the base of the sweetheart table and in front of the DJ, while a custom monogrammed dance floor wrap anchored the room. Dinner featured herb-crusted filet of beef with California cabernet sauce, spinach and shiitake-stuffed chicken in golden filo, and pistachio-crusted Chilean sea bass. Alyssa changed into a sparkly mini dress before late-night portraits and a turn behind the DJ booth. Guests indulged in dessert and mini milkshakes, then gathered around the fire pit for s’mores under the stars as the night came to an end.
As a family-owned estate, it was an honor to welcome Alyssa and John into our home and to help bring their vision to life. From the first conversation to the final farewell, we’ll always cherish being part of their celebration. If you’re dreaming of your own garden wedding in New Jersey, we invite you to explore our estate and inquire about a private tour.
