Rainy Wedding Day at Crossed Keys Estate

April 18, 2023

Here at Crossed Keys Estate, every wedding day is beautiful and joyous no matter the weather. And we really mean that. Whether it’s just a drizzle or a major stormy day, we’ve seen it all and will always do our best to guide you through it.

Is rain in the forecast on your wedding day? Don’t fret! Your coordinator will be keeping a close eye on the weather. This will help you make the most informed decisions about any changes that need to be made, for instance, photos and ceremony. If you want to prepare for a possible rainy wedding day, two big items you may want to consider having on hand for photos:

  • (Clear) Umbrellas: to sneak outside for pics no matter the weather!
  • Change of shoes: Although our grounds are well-kept, there are a lot of grassy areas that may not be heel friendly on a wet day. You also don’t want to risk any chance of getting dirty, so an extra pair of shoes will keep you stress-free!

Backup Ceremony Plan

When the weather does not permit an outdoor ceremony, saying “I do!” will take place in the farmhouse. Stand together with a backdrop of the grounds just outside the farmhouse window. You’ll still very much feel among nature as you and your guests are warm and dry inside.

One Last Tip

Trust your vendors! As wedding pros, they know what works best in all situations regarding their talents and services. So don’t panic! And let them lead you when making decisions you’re not sure of.

Although we understand how frustrating rain clouds can be, some of the most magical and unique photo moments have happened at CKE on rainy wedding days!
