Crossed Keys Estate: Floral Meeting Guide

April 8, 2022

Bringing your wedding day vision to life is a labor of love for the team here at Crossed Keys Estate. Every couple is unique and we love working together to create a design that truly tells your story. Whether it’s a boho vibe, a disco dream, or modern traditional, our space will transform to your vision! The first step in that process is the floral meeting you can expect to have at about 4-5 months before the wedding. This extensive meeting is where we chat in detail about your ideas and inspiration. This covers flowers, colors, budget, and of course, vibes! What do you want your wedding to feel like? Be like? Our job is to guide you from here to show you how we can accomplish that at Crossed Keys Estate and how to do so within your budget.

Floral Design

A big part of the design process is the floral itself. So let’s dive a little deeper into what will help you make some big design decisions during the floral meeting! Crossed Keys Designs, our in-house floral team, is located right here on the grounds at Crossed Keys Estate. This gives our designers a little more flexibility and easy access to the venue for executing the best plan for you. Our team also quickly knows what works best in the space and how to design in a way that will give you that “high impact” feel, no matter the vision.

Decor Options

Decor is also an important piece of the design. This could include vases, signage, candles, furniture, and other items. Crossed Keys Designs does not provide a stock list of items because our inventory changes with the seasons and trends. Instead, we do our best to source items that fit your vision which allows us to truly customize the decor design for each of our couples.

Budget

We often get a lot of questions about what to expect when it comes to budget during the floral meeting. The answer truly varies with each couple and their wedding day vision so while we can’t provide specifics, there are some things to have in mind for when you come to meet with us. Below is a list of just some of the common floral needs and areas for decor. Your list may look different and that’s okay too! But if you’re not sure where to start, here are some baseline items to consider:

  • Bouquets, boutonnieres, and personals for any other special wedding party members! (This may include grandparents, flower girl/ring bearer, or fur babies!)
  • Ceremony: arch or chuppah, aisle decor (petals, arrangements) *Don’t forget special touches like toss petals or flowers for signage!
  • Cocktail Hour: flowers for tables, gift/card table, and other miscellaneous areas like the entrance, bar flowers, etc.
  • Reception: centerpieces, candles, rental linens (napkins, tablecloths, runners), rental glassware/chargers/flatware, large scale installations like sweetheart backdrops or chandelier florals

Don’t worry if this list feels overwhelming! While it’s good to consider these things beforehand, we understand you may not have all decisions made yet and that’s when it’s our job to be your guide!

After our meeting, we work behind the scenes to put together a proposal just for you. Typically, we provide a detailed breakdown and individual pricing for each item, which can help you ultimately decide what works for you and your budget. From here, we work together until you are satisfied with all aspects of the designs. Once this is all set, it’s just a matter of time before your vision truly comes to life on the big day!

Being a part of your wedding day not just as a venue but as a floral team, we are able to really get to know our clients and because of that, we like to think we can put in that much extra love and care. There is nothing like seeing our couples experience Crossed Keys Estate for the first time when it is designed especially for them!
